  1. Patrick

I’ve been using the Iron Oak 80 for a year now as my first offset wood smoker. This thing is amazing. I can fit enough food for a large group of friends, or just enough for me for the week. The craftsmanship is superb and Chuck is incredibly helpful with any questions you have for him after. I cannot recommended this smoker, and Chuck himself enough to everyone.

Wow! Patrick, thank you for the taking the time to share your experience with the Iron Oak 80. Building smokers has allowed me to connect with like mind enthusiasts and create new friendships. I really appreciate you allowing me to be part of your bbq journey!

  2. Joe

Chuck is an outstanding pit builder and an all-around good dude. I bought one of his smokers last year and he still sends me updates and tips! This smoker is a beast! I absolutely love mine and have zero complaints. I’ve used other offset smokers in the past but none of them hold temps as well as this one. If you’re looking at getting into offset smoking (or just want to upgrade your current set-up) I can’t recommend this any higher!

Thank you Joe! I really appreciate the amazing compliment and feedback. Thank you for taking the time to submit it! I have to say that exterior grill was a great add-on! I appreciate the request and challenge. I get a lot of compliments on that build. It’s truly an amazing pit with tons of cooking options. Enjoy it forever!

  3. Mike

I have owned my Iron Oak BBQ pit for a little bit now and it’s absolutely amazing! Chuck is a fantastic craftsman and more importantly, a good person. He kept me updated during my build and has followed up with me multiple times since my purchase. I catered a wedding for 120 people using this pit and it handled it with ease. I have read all the books and been to the end of the Internet researching offset smokers and trust me, THIS is the pit you want. Thank you, Chuck, for an amazing pit and an even better buying experience. Stop reading this review and order your pit!! Thanks again, Chuck!!

I’m floored Mike! Thank you for the glowing review! When you said you were going to cater a wedding using the Iron Oak 80, I questioned the capacity to cook enough food for that many guests. From personal experience, I know I can cook a couple of pork butts, a brisket and 4 racks of ribs at one time on mine. But you added the upper racks, which I don’t have, so that definitely gives you more space to add meat or sides. When I saw the pics you sent of you “holding” 2 briskets, 4 pork butts, 20lbs. of chicken and your sides at 160, I immediately thought how ingenious that was to use the smoker as a holding oven for your wedding reception. I’m really happy it’s working for you and I certainly appreciate you trusting me to build your “dream smoker”.

I got the Iron oak 80. Not only is it the best smoker I’ve ever grilled on, it’s hands down a masterpiece of art. The craftsmanship that Chuck puts into building his smokers shows in every weld and perfectly cut pieces of metal.
It also holds temperature really well. It definitely makes bbqing on the iron oak 80 a wonderful experience every time I use it. Besides having a great grill that’s going to last many lifetimes, I now have a good friend in Chuck, one of the nicest humans you’ll ever meet. If you are thinking about getting a new smoker, Iron Oak bbq pits is the way to go. You’ll be happy you did.

Thank you for the super kind words Pat! When you asked for the Iron Oak 80 and only wanted one upper rack on the smokestack side, I knew you’d wish you had gotten 2 one day. I know from experience, because I don’t have any and more real estate is better even if you don’t always use it. You’re excitement and “patience” for your build warranted a second upper grate, at no charge. I’m so glad I added it because you used both immediately! For me, that’s what it’s all about! Seeing my new bbq family cooking food, sharing it with friends, and creating memories makes building these bbq pits rewarding! Thank you for everything!
